It did occur to me, this year, that if they changed the names of the awards from "Best" to "Most Popular", 95% of each year's controversy would go away. Of course, that makes it sound like the award would be based on statistics, so maybe not.

For years now, the only award that offically has the word "Best" in it is "Best Picture". All the others are just the category names (Actor, Actress in a Supporting Role, Makeup, et al.).

The only people who call the award for Actor "Best Actor" are us, the commoners.
