The point in the seventh paragraph where you wrote: "They became more attractive as I watched." It just sounded out of place. The previous paragraph sounded a lot like you, though. And once I'd realized something was up, my suspicions were increased by the presence of a few incorrect verb tenses in the rest of the story. These made it seem like you were not writing from personal experience. At least, that's what I think.
