I first heard this term in chat, too. It's great, because I've been seeing rice-boy cars for years, and I never knew there was a term for the phenomenon. As I understand it, ricers are the people who own those black Honda CRXs with the black tinted windows and the enormous fake exhaust pipes which I keep seeing around Auckland, usually driven by teenage Asian boys. The recipe for a ricer car, at least around here, seems to be:

Take a late-model Japanese car of the type which would normally be owned by housewives and young mothers.

Try desperately to make it look like a stealth bomber crossed with the latest James Bond car, as seen through the warped filter of Asian teenagerhood.

Cover it with ominous stickers proclaiming your evil to the world, then add a line of small cuddly animal toys along the dashboard to *completely* confuse the rest of the population.
