Yay, Sesame Street!

I used to, but it just ain't as good as it used to be. The new title/end sequences aren't a patch on the old ones (remember the one with all the kids hiding behind a single thin tree trunk?). And these days there's Far Too Much Elmo.
Although there was that one episode I saw a little while ago that I quite liked. One of the letters-of-the-day was X, so the plot of the Sesame Street segments involved sightings of a mysterious being that was clearly Not Of This Sesame Street (and every time the mysterious being appeared, it was accompanied by mood music that conspicuously failed to resemble the theme from 'The X-Files'). There's a scene toward the end, where the inhabitants are trying to establish contact with the being, which speaks to them only in words beginning with X:
Being: "Xylophone." Telly: "What is your purpose here?" Being: "Xylophone." Telly: (despairing) "If only we could work out what it wants!" Being: (beginning to sound annoyed) "Xylophone."

Kermit. And Grover. And Oscar. And Telly. And Snuffalupagus. And Big Bird. And Little Bird. And Bert. And Ernie. And the Twiddlebugs. And the yepyep aliens. And Barkley. And Guy Smiley. And most of the rest of them, really.
> Is there a favorite part you liked, a certain segment you liked very much?
I liked most of the bits with Bert and Ernie. And the waiter sketches. And the musical numbers. And the Twiddlebugs. And the sketches featuring Kermit the Frog, Roving News Reporter. And that sketch where someone tries to sell Kermit a pair of glasses, even though his vision's fine and they won't fit ("I have no ears to hook them on." "As it happens, I also sell false ears..."). And...

'There's A Monster At The End Of This Book', no question.
> Me, I loved Grover.
Yay, Grover!

Yay, 'There's A Monster At The End Of This Book'!
> I also liked Snuffy, and another bunch of characters that seem to be forgotten today - > the Twiddlebugs.
Yay, Snuffy!
Yay, the Twiddlebugs!
> Oscar: Biography was brought to you by the letters A and E. Now SCRAM!
LOL.
