Solvang! Solvang's just up the road and around the corner, about. It is a nice area, off in the mountains, sort of. I don't really think the people are overwhelmingly Norwegian, and it's definitely a tourist trap. (And an escape for some people. I have a few teenage friends that live in Santa Ynez, and they complain there's nothing to do there, so go to the movies at Solvang or something. And it's Santa *Y*nez, said "Santuh Eenez" or "Sannee Nez" or "Santee Nez".) I'd always heard Solvang was supposed to be like a Danish village, though, but I wouldn't really know...it's got a Danish bakery on a corner with the yummiest scones and such.
Anyways, I never really thought it was a weird name, but I guess a little. Anyone else been there?

What about Yuba River or Ojai for odd names?
