"Mousie" = one of those sweatshirts with the hoods on them, because an astonishing lot of them are that mousie grey color. "It's cold outside so take your mousie" (Not related to the Rinkworks Mousie)

"Spinach Monster" = a blanket, so named after a huge, raggedy, ugly green (but warm) blanket we had. "It's cold in here too so put a spinach monster on your bed tonight"

"there's a cat in your saxaphone" = don't believe every thing you hear. Several years ago my son came home from elementary school telling me that a friend had to drop out of band because, the friend said, his cat got stuck in his saxaphone and he couldn't play it anymore. I think little kids will believe anything if it's said with enough authority or emphasis! This was actually a pretty good oportunity to teach discernment and logic, though, and ever since then, if we hear a questionable tale, we wonder out loud:
"Howard's dwarf story? I think he's got a cat stuck in his saxaphone"
