I hope this doesn't make anybody mad, but in certain parts of New Orleans, there is a distinctive smell (accent on diSTINCtive). Down in the French quarter, especially Bourbon Street, there is a smell that reminds you that someone got drunk and threw up in the street. I've been there several times and the smell is always there. So why do I keep going back? It must be the food. There are a number of really nice places to eat there, and "the smell" is only noticable out in the street. And it's a great people-watching town.

I've been to Gilroy and Hershey and their air pollution is much nicer.
