Yes! Go for it.... Chemistry is great as a discipline, and for me, a very large number of the required courses for it were both interesting and fun. When it comes to hands-on work, I also found the subject to be more intuitive than both biochemistry (which can require a lot of mind-numbing memorization), and molecular biology. I did notice a kind of "old boys' network" in the structure of the Chemistry teacher's faculty, but at any rate there were roughly equal numbers of female students enrolled in all the courses. And while I was at McGill, two of my profs were women.

Plus, you can get all excited about small trivial things like the chemistry of water and ice, mushrooms, Turtle Wax, or toothpaste, whilst simultaneously cudgelling your brains out with the more structural (practical) aspects of light and of the nature of quantum reality as it interacts with molecular matter.

Now, if you want a discipline which I believe is still in large part "me and the boys," try Engineering... Although, admittedly, both my boss and co-boss are female engineers. :-)
