I think it's interesting that whenever we write "base 2," "base 8," "base 10," "base 12," or "base 16," we still write it in base 10. All of these, if written in the bases they describe, would look the same: "base 10." The only one I can think of that would be different is base 1.

It also seems strange to me that the first two are written with numbers they don't even have.
