Write about things you know about. Personal experiences are great to write about, because no one is more qualified to write about your own personal experiences than you are. If you don't want to make it directly autobiographical, you can change names, change details, and perhaps combine different episodes in your life into a single story. Write lots. Don't worry so much about whether what you're writing is earthshattering or not. You'll improve with everything you write, so if you aren't there yet, you'll get there anyway.
