Open adoption is when the birth mother (and maybe father) are not anonymous, right? Meaning that the child will always know the s/he was adopted, and they know who their birth parents are, and might even know them personally. From what I've read about it, it's much healthier for everyone involved than the old system of keeping it all a secret. That's really cool of your aunt and uncle.
