Wait a second. A hypocrite is a person who believes one way and acts another. In this case, though, the hypocritical action is itself a belief. How can a person simultaneously posit that his or her belief is both true and not true? How is it possible for a person to be completely convinced that a belief is false and yet still hold that belief? While it isn't hard to come up with a reasonable scenario explaining why a person might be a hypocrite by action (e.g. Indifferent A attends church/synagogue/mosque out of tradition and not conviction.), I'm at a loss to explain why a person would continue to knowingly believe a falsehood. It just doesn't seem sane to me. I end up with four available conclusions: (1) You don't believe what you wrote, (2) You didn't explain it quite right, or I misunderstood, (3) You think in a way fundamentally different than I do, or (4) You are at least partially insane. However much I dislike the concept, I still have to go with number three. Please explain the mental gymnastics.
