I don't recognize those words, either. I haven't spoken Swedish for ages, but I did study it for five years in school.
But the Swedish they use in and around Kokkola is just plain wierd. I think the worst dialect ever spoken is what they speak in Alaveteli. I don't remember exactly what potato is in Swedish, but I think it's something like "potatis". Okay, in Alaveteli they say "pääro". It could be that it comes from the Finnish word "peruna". My Swedish teacher used to tell a story about two Swedish-speaking Finns who went to a gathering in Sweden, Nordic Days or some such. A couple of Swedes were listening to the Finns as they spoke to each other and finally approached them, saying, "Hey, that Finnish you spoke, it's not so darn hard. We could actually understand a few words." Of course, the Finns had been speaking their own dialect of Swedish, not Finnish.
