Some of my notes from the Civ101 section on Ancient Greece (I don't remember what I was really thinking when I wrote them, so I am just going to copy what I have. Therefore they may be a little disjointed):
Scepitcs: can't know truth Heroclytius: everything is changing all the time; knowledge is impossible Monosim: all of existance, vairation is illusion - there is one substance only
However, Plato believed that concrete knowledge was possible because of core things - because there is a non-material (spiritual, can't be observed scientifically) realm
I agree with Plato on this one, and always have. However, an interesting question is how did he know there was a non-material realm if its presence was what he based his belief in knowledge on?
