My dad called me last night because he had a virus on his computer. He had tried a few things but was stuck. Apparently, a program runs called spiral or spiral.exe and a large spiral distorts most of the screen. We're not sure if it is doing anything else. An icon does appear in the toolbar but right clicking on it to close it does not work and using ctrl-alt-delete to check what is running does not show any spiral program. I did a search on McAfee's site (which is running really slow because of the Anna Kournikova virus stampede) and all I could find with the name spiral was three macro viruses. None of them described a giant spiral on the screen, either.

Right now, all we can think of doing is updating his DAT files and possibly needing to use a boot disk to start the computer without the spiral going. Does anyone have any other ideas or experience with this bug?
