I just finished reading "The Tar-Ayim Krang", the first book in the series, and I'm not sure if I'm going to read the others. I read this book on the recommendation of my dad, who owns probably every Science Fiction book ever made (not really of course, but it sure seems that way). My dad said it was pretty good, but now after I've read it I feel a little irritated.

I guess my biggest problem with the book was the way Allan Dean Foster wrote. His style was somewhat unnerving to me, and it was hard to tell who, exactly, was supposed to be speaking. It was sort of like this:

"Blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah," Said some vauge person, I'm giving a description of the person but not saying who the person actually is so you need to figure it out yourself, "blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah."

When I write, I have a tag on every line so nobody could be even slightly confused as to who's talking. I'm obessive that way. I write like this:

"Blah blah blah." Said somebody.
"Blah blah blah blah," somebody else replied, "blah blah blah blah blah."
The first somebody sighed. "Blah blah blah blah."

I'm sure it's choppy and annoying, but that's just how I write.

And as what usually happens when I read a book of any kind, but favorite character is not the main character, but some secondary person. My favorites in this book were Bran Tse-Mallory and Truzenzuzex, even if they do babble.

When I start liking a secondary character better, I always feel as if I'm doing the author wrong. They MEANT for me to like the lead character...I mean, that's WHY he's the lead character. But I almost never do.

Qua "isn't it amazing how I changed the subject so?" rtz
