I'm currently on Paxil, for the same things you might go on it. I was really nervous about any antidepressants for the same reason, that it would change who I fundamentally am. However, after some medicating on another thing to help me sleep (since I'd been losing sleep because of the depression), and still feeling really awful, I decided to go on an anti-depressant. My doctor recommended Paxil for me, and I've definately been feeling better. At first I got all shaky and light-headed, but that stopped after a while of taking it. In the meantime, I just took it at night. But I've been feeling so much better. Sometimes a person just needs a leg out of that hole to get back into life, and anti-depressants are what provides that aid.

A psychiatrist is a wonderful aid to help you see yourself in a better light. I've been in counselling, too, and I've definately come to the root of some of my problems...
