It's been a pretty mild summer, in my opinion. None of those horrible 40 degreee days (at least not in Perth. It's another story entirely for the eastern states...).

I know what you mean about it being brown. I like the brown. I used to live in a country town, so it's more 'home-like' for me than green. Tropical places where plants are green, the sky is grey and yet it's 30 degrees confuse me. ;-)
