Ever read or seen Les Miserables? Jean Valjean stole something and got caught and then escaped from prison. Fairness is Jean Valjean not getting recaptured and going back to jail, because he was such a nice guy and he was sorry for what he'd done and he spent the rest of his life trying to make up for it.

Justice is saying that doesn't matter and sending him back to jail anyway, because that was the LAW.
