I'm in the midst of reading a wonderful book called "The Fourth Dimension: A Guided Tour of the Higher Universes" by Rudy Rucker. It's been wonderful brain food for me thus far. I highly recommend it to anyone wishing a better understanding of higher dimensional thinking. It provides ways of trying to visualize a fourth physical dimension (I never really thought that was possible, but it does seem to be helping me); it discusses much of the Relativity theory we've been discussing on various threads here in light of space being higher dimensional; it talks about parallel universes and what a "gateway" to a parallel universe would actually look like in our universe. Perhaps it's best feature for math-phobes is that it uses no equations or formulas -- although now that I'm not quite the math-phobe I used to be, I find myself wishing they were there in an apendix or something.

It makes great use of the famous "Flatland" universe developed by Edwin A. Abbott, but familiarity with that book is not necessary. It shows how we can envision what a fourth dimensional being could do to us by picturing what we could do to two-dimensional beings.
