As with "om", correct formation of the sacred syllable "gah" may not be correctly intuited by novitiates. Following is a technique that you may find helpful as you work to perfect your intonation of "gah".

To Pronounce "Gah":

1. Take a shallow breath.

2. Press the middle of your tongue against the roof of your mouth.

3. Move your tongue down and forward while exhaling; you kind of have to let the air itself dislodge your tongue.
* This may take some practice; it's easy to make the "k" sound instead of the "g" sound by mistake. You may even produce a hard German "ch" the first few times. Just keep at it.

4. Let your jaw drop a bit as the air is coming out your mouth. You may also wish to wrinkle your nose or sneer a bit; while this does not aid pronunciation, it makes the syllable all the more forceful and evocative when speaking in person.

With practice, you will soon master the basic formation of "gah", and may even try a few of the approved variations, such as the "long-h gah", which may be written "gahhhh". May the spirit of Sam guide your tongue!
