You are far too hard on yourself. None of these things are bad, and you've demonstrated, in that archive and in others, that you are extraordinarily literate. Use of interjections does not compromise that.

In any case, I certainly didn't notice any particular change, nor did I think your speech was at anything less than an educated level. Nobody reading that is going to be thinking about anything other than how cool it is that two different places on the globe could be so wildly different from each other.
