The Bambi & Thumper scene in DAF is an embarrassment to his long legacy as Bond. Ignore it. He deserves it. Frankly, Sean Connery is by and large one of the MOST dangerous Bonds. Watch him in the BEGINNING of Diamonds Are Forever. Or in Dr. No, where he waits for Professor Dent and shoots him in cold blood. Or in pretty much any part of From Russia With Love. As for his bad one-liners, all I can say is that Roger Moore had far worse lines to utter, and he sounded goofier delivering them.

George Lazenby's one Bond movie is considered one of the best of the series by Bond fanatics, mediocre by casual fans. Lazenby is surprisingly effective, but he's more of a Connery impersonator than an actor.

We're somewhat agreed here. Moore is a 50-50 with me. Of the seven Bond flicks he made, I like three and a half. For Your Eyes Only is the highlight. Take a look at the scene where he kicks a badguy off a cliff when he's trapped in a car, or the scene in The Spy Who Loved Me, where he kills a henchman with a casual swat. Moore could be edgy. The writers just seldom let him be.

> Timothy Dalton: I only saw one movie, but I didn't think much of him. He wasn't really Bond-ish for me either. Which brings me to...

Dalton is the MOST Bondish of the Bond actors. Read any of the books. Dalton embodied the character as he was originally envisioned. His Bond was the most dangerous, the most internally conflicted.

> Pierce Brosnan: YAY! Huzzah! The BEST Bond!

Brosnan is good. Rather than get back to the Bond of the books, Brosnan sought to get back to Connery. He's not as rugged as Connery, but he's at least as suave. What I don't like is that the recent Bond movies, while terrific action flicks, don't have much more substance to the character. The more than usual level of emotional involvement he had in The World Is Not Enough was not a subplot I ever quite believed.
