Well, so far, blah blah blah..." Basically, a discussion with yourself of your work and any ideas you may come up with. Eventually, you'll probably work out what happens next in the story. And once you know that, there's a good chance you'll want to keep on writing.

I've done that. I keep them around, find them later, and laugh because it's so weird. When I get a sudden burst of inspiration I write, "This is my idea!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" and keep adding exclamation marks until my hand gets tired. But it is useful. =)
