If you want to find out more about the Vespa car, just do a search under Vespa 400. If you want to find out more about *my* Veapa, read on: I found my 1974 Vespa 90 motor scooter in a barn several years ago. It was 23 years old at the time and only had 608 miles on it. After I rode it almost exactly 100 miles, I realized that all those years in the barn had done some damage. So I parked it. I knew that it had a blown seal on the end of the crankshaft and this causes a lean mixture and not enough lubrication. Late last year, I found a mechanic, actually another Cushman collector, who works on Vespas. Some said he was the best there is. So I hauled my little green Vespa to his house in northern Georgia. I got it back last night! It cost an arm and a leg [he said, limping]because it was necessary to overhaul the fuel system, tear down the engine, replace all seals and bearings, hone the cylinder, replace the piston rings, etc. etc. etc. But I'm happy. It's like a new motor scooter with an antique vehicle license plate. I haven't even ridden it yet, but when the temperature gets over 40 -- if it does today -- I'm going out and buzz up and down the street a while. Howard
