We have Pizza Hut and Wendy's here on the opposite side of the country from New England. I never would have thought of them as "New Englandish recognizable name[s]," and I still don't.

In fact, the first Wendy's restaurant opened in 1969 in Ohio, which is not in New England, unless the state recently made a very long move northward. (See http://www.wendys.com/wendys_story/wendys_story.html for more info.)
