On rare occassions, I have a dream in which I'm never sure where the dream stops and reality begins. Like last Friday when I dreamed I was sitting up in bed trying to remember what year it was. I couldn't remember. I think I tried to remember for a long time. Then I woke up my wife and said, "Something's wrong with me. I can't remember what year it is." She said it was 2001 and I said, "It is?"
Then she said, "What month is it?" and I didn't know. She said, "It's January." I remember thinking that it should be summer. Then she said, "Do you feel all right?"
I said "Yes, I don't hurt anywhere," so she told me to go back to sleep.
The next morning, I got up and went into the sunroom where she was drinking coffee and reading the paper. She made me tell her the year, month, day of the month, and day of the week. I'm still not sure where the dream stopped. Not remembering things like that is a bad sign at my age.
Then again, forgetfulness is a family charactistic and I've had it all my life.
