WMM and I just got back from Florida. When we left here, it was in the 40's so we each wore a light jacket. Didn't figure on using it after we got down south. We stopped in Georgia, near Atlanta and the temperature was in the 40's. After a few hugs from the grandkids we headed for Florida. Georgia is a long state from north to south, so darkness found us still in Georgia. We continued on until we were across the state line and then we stopped for the night. You guessed. It was in the 40's. The next morning (low 40's)we struck out thinking Universal Studios, but when we got there we stopped for lunch and found that outside the truck it was in the 40's. Too cold for theme parks, we decided, so at WMM's suggestion we headed south to Ft. Pierce and drove over to the beach on the south side of the inlet. I rolled the window down and even with the wind off the ocean is was no warmer than high 40's. Ok, says I, let's go up to Vero Beach and get the scooter parts(that was our excuse for going anyway). I got out at Joe's, he's the guy with the scooter parts, and left my jacket in the truck. Nearly froze! It was in the 40's.

So I suggested that we give up this Florida stuff and just drive up I-95 through Jacksonville to Savanah. We could go see Hannah* and get some good southern food. We stopped in Daytona (actually Ormand beach)overnight and stayed right on the ocean. Off season rates. It was about 40 and the wind was fierce. Next morning, we pointed the Toyota north and cruised through Jacksonville, across the St. Johns, between rush hour and lunch. Before long we were driving along the salt marshes, crossing one estuary after another, on Georgia's southeast coast. I didn't roll the window down but it looked like it was in the 40's out there. We arrived in Savannah with the sun shinning and the temp in the 40's. Beautiful town. Good placd to get lost. We stayed lost so long, we failed to find one of those famous restaurants. So help me Hannah*, we got a sub at the Subway!

Then we took off for Macon, where we stayed overnight. The next morning, with the temperature in the 40's, we took off for home via Atlanta. The only rain we saw was between Atlanta and Chattanooga. When we got home it was dry and, need I say it? -- 45 degrees F. A fun trip.
