I was looking through some of my grandfather's old papers and found a post card from Italy. The postmark reads "Poste Roma Ferr. Corrisp." around the edge, and in the center, "-3.11.66-23" I assume it came from Rome, but when? 1966 maybe? And what does Ferr. Corrisp. mean?
The picture on the other side is St. Peter's Square and the cars in the picture look like 1926-1935. It's a full color photograph.
The stamp is blue with what appears to be a lady of ancient Rome. It cost 115 lire to send it to my grandfather. It is addressed to "Mr. Murrill, Lewisburg, West Virginia, USA." No first name, no street address!
In the same box, I've found letters back to about 1924, a car title for a 1933 Willys issued in 1935 and my grandfather's driver's license from the same period. And, of course, pictures. I haven't reached the bottom of the box yet. Howard
