For those not familiar, it's a dark sort of fantasy, set in the present day, and posits that such incidental acts of impoliteness and imposition, like not holding doors for people or cutting people off in traffic, are actually contributing toward the eventual subversion and destruction of the human race. It's a compelling idea, and they're good stories.

Sounds a bit like "Needful Things" by Stephen King. There's also a passage in Pratchett and Gaiman's "Good Omens" where a demon ties up the cell phone network during lunch to irritate humans who would then pass on that irritation to others. By the end of the work day, the anger was radiating from the city.
