I was a grocery store clerk in high school, and noticed that upon the creation of a new line (or in this case three new lines), there was a mad rush to be first in the new line. To assuage this, I would try to arrive at my register incognito, and then quietly pull the second person in line from the nearest register. Occasionally I would be spotted, however, and upon arriving at my till with my chosen customer, I would find a smug soccer-mom stacking her boxes of Jalapeno Poppers on my conveyor belt. So I was surprised by the drift described.

That's all....I have nothing to add to the opinions stated by the others.
