You said "Terry Pratchett". So as a rabid Prachett fan I had to say something. The best books for me contain Rincewind and the Luggage. This is because Rincewind is always bouncing into new and unexpected adventures, none of which he wants! The Lancre Witches and The A-M City Watch are usually just going about their business when a plot develops to involve them. My own personal favourite Discworld moment is Granny Weatherwax playing Cripple Mr Onion. Just the descriptions said from Mister Franks' point-of-view are hilarious. The Very Best of Pratchett though, is Crowley the demon driving up beside Mr R P Tyler in a vintage 1926 Bentley that is bent, battered, mangled, twisted and also happens to be on fire from end to end! Crowley winds down the window and asks for directions! It makes me laugh every single time I read it.
