I finally read the book entitled "A Child Called It" by David Pelzer, and I must say that it is one of the most emotionally intense books I have ever read. I had no idea what I was in for when I checked it out of the library, but from the moment I began reading it until the second I was done, I was in shock at how a mother could treat her son the way the mother in the book did. What's even worse is the fact that the book is the first book in a trilogy...the author's autobiographical trilogy. I have no idea how this little boy found such an amazing amount of strength within himself to survive the hunger, torture, and abuse his mother put him through. I don't want to say anything else, I just basically wanted to encourage those who hadn't yet read this book to do so. I'd always known about child abuse going on and everything, but I never really knew how bad it could get sometimes. This book also made me realize how fortunate I am to be a part of a loving family who have always treated me with kindness, love, and support. :)
