Wow! I think we should set up a playdate for our moms and see how they get along. "flee for her life"--I mean, wow.
My best friend and I once skipped school and hitchhiked to Quakertown, five miles away. We were picked up by a nice guy who was listening to Jimmy Buffet. My parents did the back-and-forth across the country as well...that safety and even comradery (sp?) that existed for hitchers 20 years ago is still in America, in the youth hostel community...backpackers and such. I guess it's the closest we can get to what our parents go to do.
