I always liked "Les Brown and His Band of Renown."
Also, "Tommy Dorsey." How's that for a wierd name? And "Duke Ellington" who was more of a King than a Duke. I also liked "The Spike Jones Orchestra." Spike was tops in wierdness. "The Glenn Miller Band" had an ordinary name, but it wasn't an ordinary band. And then there was "Kaye Kaiser's Musical University." But I never thought of a man named Kaye as being wierd. And there was also the two Roys. Roy Rogers and the Son's of the Pioneers" and "Roy Acuff and the Smokey Mountain Boys." All of these bands pre-dated the wierdness of the Beetles. I don't think I got the name of the Kaye Kaiser band exactly right, but you get the idea.
