Cats must just be the most stupid, unreliable, undesirable animals in the world.
Everything you describe as "intelligence" with a cat is the opposite. Yes cats can survive in the wild which many dogs can not, but can a human ?
Cats can survive because they have been breed to keep their basic instincts, reflexes. They have not been bright enough to be able to adapt to new life stiles, therefore cats are still mostly used for catching/eating rats. Dogs have the ability to learn, understand and adapt. That is what the specification of Intelligence is all about.
It has of course since long also been proved scientifically that Dogs are brighter, but some people just dont educate themselves enough to read those kind of magazines ( New Science for example )
Also, it is not true what you said in the text, I had a cat. who i hated and was not nice to. he always came back to me though, stupid is what stupid does!

However, cats are just as popular as dogs, and get just as much food, just as many toys, and just as nice a place to stay, DESPITE being so anti-social. The conclusion? Cats are smarter than most HUMANS, not to mention dogs...

Intelligence depends upon brain power and that varies widely amoung dogs, cats, and even humans. Especially humans, I suppose. But I have noticed that cats will bury what dogs leave lying around in the yard. Cats are particular about what they eat. Dogs will eat things that by no stretch of the imagination could be called food. Cats are independent. You can turn one loose in the wilderness and it is likely to survive. A dog would starve to death. No wonder dogs are so loyal to humans. They depend on humans for everything. I am a cat person (surprise!)because I can't help admiring their independence. Nobody owns a cat. If he doesn't like you, he will leave. Most dogs won't leave you no matter how rotten you are. It sounds like loyalty, but it could be his fear that the next master might be worse. Adolph Hitler had a dog. His cat probably left.
