Humor, and the Rinkworks Ideology

I've been thinking off and on about what I like so much about Rinkworks and why I keep coming back. After some reflection, I decided to give a very short dissertation on the matter from my point of view. Feel free to add your own thoughts, rebut me, whatever.

(Please forgive any spelling errors, run-on sentences, and the like. I never claimed to be a writer.)

The first thing I enjoy about Rinkworks is the community. I've been to certain "community" sites but have never gotten very involved in them. And although I remain somewhat on the outside, I do feel that I am a part of the Rinkworks community. And it pleases me. When you have a small group of people who never seem to fight, or show true animosity or any other hurtful feelings, it really encourages a person to want to stay and be a part of it.

I was lucky enough to find Rinkworks through some other person or site. The first feature I saw being Computer Stupidities. I laughed so hard at some of the stupidities that I decided to explore the rest of the site until I found RinkChat.

This brings me to my second point: humor. Humor is an important part of our culture, much more important and integrated than other skills (yes I consider humor somewhat of a skill). Anyway, the thing that struck me about the people who frequent RinkChat is that they are actually humorous. Not slapstick or crude humor, the rare kind of highbrow humor (and yes, puns Nyp :). I'll tell you right now that more than anything I enjoy sophisticated humor. I hate Drew Carey and like Frasier, for instance (if that makes any sense). But the think about this refined humor is that it often takes longer to tell and is often drawn out. Now, this kind of humor leads to what? In-side jokes, the kind that you have to frequent the site to understand. This makes the community even MORE closely-knit.

In summary, its the people that make the site great. I hope you never change and I hope this site never leaves.
