Grrr. The annual McGill Book Fair has similar gorgeous deals and it's this week! Sweet deals similar to what you mention, from 25¢ upwards. Most places that offer books as cheaply as this would sell complete junk, but this fair is not one of those. Unfortunately I haven't been able to visit it in over ten years *sob*...

Why should major book fairs take place in October, any particular reason for that? ... The last time I went, I bought a book called "The Sacred Mushroom and the Cross," which is filled with a total mish-mash of Sumerian, Arabic, Hebrew and Greek text. I have absolutely no idea what the author is talking about. It's great.

Hey, make your own illuminations! Aw, I'm sure you can dig up some gold leaf, and earth pigments to make the lettering like crushed rock vermilian and egg yolk, huh? You can start with something easy, like copying the Book of Kells. Heh.

Wolf "B-G, does your Qur'an have several flyleafs bearing a very elaborate single 'knot' of Arabic writing inside a large cartouche? Just curious" spirit
