> I saw a *great* TV ad once in which a guy was holding up cards with the lyrics of "Israelites", as he heard them. I wish I could remember the whole thing. It was hilarious. The best of it was that his lyrics sounded SO MUCH MORE like the words you were hearing than the actual words did. I defy anyone to see that ad and ever again hear that song as anything but "Whoa-oh-oh, me ears are alight."
Oh man. I saw that on one of those "best TV commercials" specials, and literally rolled on the floor laughing. And I've got it on video-- some day I'll get around to converting it to an .mpeg...
> Another good similar thing I saw had the lyrics of (was it?) UB40's cover of "I Can't Help Falling In Love With You." If you haven't heard their version, believe me, it may not make sense, but this is exactly what it sounds like with that accent: > > Why Sam say > Oily few Russian > Icon heap > Filing enough wheat, Jew.
Heh. Being the young whippersnapper that I am, I hadn't heard Elvis' version of the song when UB40's cover came out. And when I finally *did* hear it, my first thought was: "*Those* are the lyrics?!"
