I've spent the past few days moving in to my new accomodation at university.

First, a quick explanation for you non-UK types. University students mostly join at 18 and go for 3 or 4 years to get a degree. And it usually involves leaving the parental home. Which I have done. And, if anyone is doing the same, or thinking of it, I can highly recommend it. It's really not as scary as I was expecting. Maybe the emotional aspect of leaving my friends and family behind hasn't struck me yet.

Networks are evil. It's no big deal to be seperated from the internet for extensive periods, but it really gets on your nerves when you're surrounded by over 500 PCs, including your own, and are still unable to access the net. Sam, you should be proud. This is the first site I have visited since getting online. Although I fear that I will be returning to the downward spiral - I haven't thought "/me" for days now.

You know that you're going to miss the net when you have packed away the PC, and then remember to take some clothes with you. Yes, I'm a geek. And I'm proud of it, too. I have spent £100 so far trying to get on this here network thing, and I've only just managed to squeeze my way on. Thank god that RinkWorks isn't blocked, eh?

Campus accomodation isn't evil. By a long way. There is a pure genius (puts finger on forehead) having your home only 3 minutes (I've timed it) from where you have to be for lectures. The downside is that you have to do all of that independence stuff, which isn't fun. It's not all bad, though. You learn all sorts of stuff. For example, I can now make the world's greatest beans on toast.

Complimentary studies are the least evil of the lot. They offer Japanese, which is one of those things I kept promising myself to learn. But how 4 years of work can get me to a GCSE (3 years of occasional work) level I don't know. The upshot is that I will be able to safely konnichi wa my way into a conversation.

So, what have I missed here on RinkWorks? Congratulations to Ticia, although I'm sorry my spirit couldn't make it.
