The Strong Woman Chronicles are kind of odd.
As I made my way through the stories, I kept getting confused as to when and where they were supposed to take place.
Sam, did you intentionally mix genres when you wrote (I'm assuming that you are the esteemed author) The Strong Woman Chronicles? At first I thought I was reading another fantasy epic...but then I found myself thinking, "wait...maybe this is a western." Seems to have elements of both.
I mean, you usually don't find saloons, mines, claim jumpers, trackers in plaid shirts and cowboy hats, or posses in a fantasy story. Neither do you often see crossbows, enchanters, magical behemoths, or musclebound egotists wearing loinclothes in a western.
The resulting effect made for an interesting read. I was just wondering if it was intentional or not.
Gri"of course, you don't often see an orcish brute wearing a monocle and sipping Earl Grey either"shny
