Timmy,
Don't sell those dumpy little colleges short. I went to one of them because it was the only one I could afford. I worked at a part time job at the local newspaper to pay my way. As it turns out, underneath that dumpy exterior was a stictly-business institution and I wound up with a good education* and graduated with no debts to pay back. You could say it changed my life. When I started there the normal enrollment was under 2000 students. Now it is a university with 25,000 students. It's hard to hide a good thing. It's true that they didn't have sorities and fraternties and all those parties and stuff, but they had good teachers and that was what I was looking for. Picking a college is an important decision. Good luck.
*Except for spelling; I never learned that!
