Screw those naysaying computer people and their silly binary system. I was going to do some research on all these new computing methods (like quantum, optical, nanotube computing, etc.) and come up with some glib answer about how they've already done that, but I got stuck on a rabbit trail and found something fascinating (see link below).
This guy used to work for Los Alamos National Labratories, doing work on quantum computers (he was nice enought to leave a reference in his old LANL page to his new microsoft one.) Since LANL is part of the government, I can understand an expert in quantum cryptography working for them. But for Microsoft? What are Microsoft's Quantum-cryptography plans? (any ideas, Brunnen_G?)
[fyi, quantum computers are capable of factoring astronomically high numbers very quickly, which makes them great for deciphering encrypted info.]
