My grandfather wrote a letter to the editor of our local paper (probably in the 1960's) suggesting that corpses be used for leather, dog food, and crop fertilizer. I don't think he was even suggesting killing anyone on purpose. Anyhow, it was *very* Modest Proposal-esque, but some people in my conservative Indiana hometown didn't quite get it, and were pretty upset.
