If the year ends in 00 (like 2000) it isn't a leap year, even if it has been four years since the last leap year. But every fourth 00 year IS a leap year. It just so happens that 2000 qualifies. Now if every 00 year lines up with what should be a leap year it will be 400 years untill the next 00 leap year. But I don't think 00 years always line up with leap years, so it could be much longer than 400 years before the next 00 leap year. I don't know if this is true or not, but it does sound cool. > > Speed'HappyLeapYear2k'ball
Earth's years are 365.26 Earth days long. That's why every four we add the extra day. However, then there's still the little 100th hanging out there that needs to be worked in every hundred years. Although what you've described sounds like they're dropping days instead of adding them. Either way it's pretty anal.
