That mountian (big hill) that Mount Holyoke students climb for Mountian Day. Its in between S. Hadley and Northampton, MA. Take a short walk up to the building on a warm day and nap on a bench in the sun. Sometimes you can spot hang-gliders soaring over the countryside (better yet, skip the mountian and just hang-glide over the countryside). While you're in S. Hadley try the steamed milk at the Thirsty Mind and the chicken Salad at Tailgate (both right in the Village Commons outside Mt. Holyoke College) and peruse the books at the local book store (unless you can manage to sneak into the college library, which is a magnificent book adventure. If you sneak in around finals not only do you get exceptional books but some of the students occasionally streak naked through the hallways to help keep the others awake).

The top of the Shamrock run at Brodie Mountian (note: you should be an intermediate skier to attempt this view) in the Berkshires (Ashford, MA).

Vermont. Just get lost, it's all a great view. Start driving in the morning. Every time you see a covered bridge, drive through it. See where you end up by evening.

The Poconos in Pennsylvania (I got lost there once on my way to Philidelphia. oops).

Jersey City right out of New York City. You'll gain whole new levels of appreciation for the rest of the country. Miles and miles of, from what I could tell, pipes and smog. Ugh.

"These are a few of my favorite things."
