Morgan le Fey was Arthur's older half-sister. Her parents were Lady Igrain and a Duke (of Cornwall I think).
Arthur's parents were Lady Igrain and King Uther. After Cornwall was killed and Arthur was concived (i.e. out of wedlock) Uther married Igrain, so Morgan would have been raised a princess. While Arthur was born a bas.tered, Uther recognized him as the rightful heir before he died. Also only the trun, sanctified, and rightful King could pull the sword from the stone and Arthur did it. Morgan has only one, thin line to the thrown, her step-father was King. Arthur has the blood of Uther, the word of Uther, and a sign from God saying the thrown was his.

If Morgan belived she had a right to the thrown she was deciving herself. Chances are she wanted the thrown, but knew she had no right to it (not that she would let it stop her).
