Ah, Finch....well, if you're already "in a mess about" it, then I'm assuming you've been caught in one way or another. So, if you subscribe to the belief that "it's only cheating if you get caught", then, I suppose you've cheated.
As to your question "What is it to you?" Hmmm. Well, for one thing, it's sometimes necessary. (This does not mean that it was in your particular case--I wouldn't know that without specifics) Now I know that by taking such a depraved moral stance on an evil practice like ChEaTinG, I may lose the respect of some of my fellow rinkworkians......this pains me.
Briefly, I feel that there are certain academic situations which justify cheating. I don't think that a person should cheat on every exam simply because he doesn't feel like studying. But I do think that circumstances, such as too many projects, papers, exams, etc. in too little a period of time call for a little outside help. At least in cases when you have worked honestly and diligently in a course, and now face a terrible drop in your average on the basis of one quiz, paper, whatever.
I have a lot to say on this subject, but I'll keep it short for now, and see how this thread develops.
I don't think cheating is a good thing. I think that sometimes it's excusable. I don't think it is always the awful sin it is made out to be.
