I see cheating as using any sources not given to you or that you are told you can use. That would inlclude: copying other's work, taking notes of any form with you, looking at exam papers, or being told of the contents of one(other than by teachers giving revision advice) before the exam.

By the way, if you don't get told you can use your own brain, it doesn't mean you can't :-). that's about the only exception...
