California countdown

It's raining in California. Some areas haven't had rain for seven months. When it rains along the central coast, several things happen.
A little rain is enough to cause wrecks all up and down the freeways. The dust turns to slime and drvers who haven't driven on a wet road for awhile start banging fenders. Moderate rain turns the hills from golden yellow to green. In deserts, dormant plants perk up and bloom. Little kids stand on the porch and stare. The brush fires go out. Windshield wiper blades are the big seller at the Walmart.
Heavy rain causes mudslides. Dry river beds become torrents. Fields flood and crops rot. Sandbags appear around homes and stores. TV helicopters are everwhere. Tourist stay away in droves.
Then it stops and everything goes back to normal. That means the hills turn golden yellow. The rivers and deserts dry up. Traffic is back to normal. Little kids go back to the TV. Sunblock is the big seller at Walmart. Tourist come back. Sandbags disappear and there is smoke on the hills.
I really love California. I wonder why? Howard
